World Refugee Week Film Screening

Melaleuca Refugee Centre is hosting a World Refugee Week screening of awareness-raising film 'Mother Fish', an Australian story about the experiences of four people seeking peaceful asylum in Australia from Vietnam in the 1980s. As timely an issue to be discussed as ever in Darwin, the plight of asylum seekers will be discussed before and after the film, with assistance of the NT Committee on Human Rights Education. Food, cakes, chai and other refreshments available on the evening.

World Refugee Day 2011
Saturday 18 June, Darwin
Melaleuca Refugee Centre, is hosting a World Refugee Day community at Jingili Water Gardens. Features of the event will include speeches, performances of song, dance and theatre, workshops and interactive stalls for all ages, information stalls, children's activities and offering of food from various emerging communities. The event has no entry fee and is drug and alcohol free.
